In an effort to settle his 220 billion yen business debt, Mitsuko's husband makes a deal with the head of the wealthy Kouenji family to work for them to repay them for saving his family from committing suicide. While he must relocate to work in a far away prefectural factory owned by the Kouenji's, their daughter, Yukiko, gets to attend a prestigious boarding school, but Mitsuko herself must work as the Kouenji's maid.
